I almost always love spending time with anyone and everyone! I always ensure that I make time to play with not just a few of my friends, but with all of them. I also try to feel what it might be like to be someone else, to be in another person’s shoes. I like to remind myself to think like this always, which is why I always wear two different shoes.
I do love being around lively and friendly crowds, some even say I am the life of the party! Some may also think I am the biggest chatterbox they know, which sometimes gets me into a bit of trouble, especially in the classroom. I may talk a lot but I also know how to listen. When a friend needs a helping hand, I am there to give them advice and support. I learn best while participating in a group. I am able to share, co-operate and understand the needs of those around me. I believe very much in teamwork. If a friend is feeling sad, I hope I can cheer them up, and if they feel happy I will continue to keep that smile on their face and make them laugh until their stomach is in stitches!
Most penguins are coloured black and white; but not me. I think it must be because I am so friendly and warm on the inside that a colourful and bright energy inside me shines through for other creatures to see (or at least that’s what my parents once told me). I demonstrate my welcoming character by sharing stories that make my friends fill with joy. I spread fun and love around a room and most of all I am a friend that you and my other friends can trust and believe the best of. I always try and understand others’ feelings and thoughts.
I do this by thinking to myself, “I wonder what it would be like to be in their shoes?”
Or I may think, “If that happened to me, how would it make me feel?”
This helps me to show kindness, forgiveness and to care about others.

“It can be easier to be there for others in need than it is to be there for yourself. Remember - caring for everyone includes caring for you too.”

What will you do to show kindness today? It may just be a simple smile... (that might seem like a small gesture) but trust me when I tell you that a smile towards a stranger can brighten their day. You may want to compliment somebody to make them feel special. You may help someone in need? There is no right or wrong, just remember to keep your heart open while sharing your love.
One of the most important things that you can do is to offer other children, parents, sisters, brothers and even strangers the chance to be completely themselves. By accepting and understanding that everybody is different in his or her own way is the biggest gift you could give! You would never want someone to change you, right?
In order to really hear what someone is saying, we need to listen – not just with our ears but with our minds and hearts. The more we truly listen, the more we understand and the safer others feel sharing their hearts too.
